What the different titles mean in simple english.

I just want to let people know what  the different titles mean in simple english.

OEM) Means-  original equipment manufacturer. Ink and toner cartridges manufactured by the brand named companies.

Compatible ink and toner cartridges-   means- Ink and Toner cartridges manufactured by a different company  and are also brand new, only difference is the price.

Remanufactured means-  Ink and toner cartridges that are taken apart , cleaned and any worn parts replaced, giving you a big saving compared to the oem.

Name Change

I just want to let everyone know that our name has changed from rite price ink to PRINTER PLANET.IE, but the one thing that will never change is our prices, as we will remain the cheapest online  shop in ireland.

Get more from your toner

When your laser toner printer tells you it is out of toner and to replace the toner cartridge, simply  take out the toner and gently shake it from side to side. Then put  the toner cartridge back in your printer and you should be able to print at least another 20 or 30 pages and by doing so you will be getting the max from your toner cartridge.

Unclogging printheads

Sometimes your ink cartridge will not work and you know there is ink in it and this normally happens when you have not been using your printer for a while. What you need to do is remove your ink cartridge from the printer, clean the nozzle with a damp white tissue and then place the cartridge in a bowl of lukewarm water, just covering the nozzle of the cartridge for about 20 minutes. Then remove the cartridge and dry the nozzle of it with clean white tissue, and then install it in your printer and do a test run. This normally unblocks the head of the cartridge but in the event that it does not you will have to replace the cartridge.

Fix Smeary Printouts

If you use an inkjet printer and see smearing on a page, its probably because something is sticking to the printhead. This often happens after you change a cartridge and what you need to do is remove the cartridge, and with a clean damp white tissue gently clean the nozzle and always clean paralell with the nozzle head. You never touch the nozzle of your cartridge with your hand as it may damage your cartridge. Then place your cartridge back in your printer and you should now have a smear free printout.

What inkjet printer should I buy?

The biggest mistake that  everybody makes when buying an inkjet printer is buying the printer without checking out the running cost of it. Sometimes when an inkjet printer appears to be very good value it is very costly to run it. The questions to ask are the following.

How much ink is in the cartridge/ eg ml of ink

How much is the cartridge to buy.

Any black cartridge with less than 10ml would be very expensive to run.

Any colour cartridge with less than 5ml of each colour would be very expensive to run.

The key point to remember is don't buy an inkjet printer just because its cheap without asking the above questions.
